Creating art is a very personal and therapeutic process for me. My work is a visual interpretation of my emotional state and reflects my feelings at that certain point in time. Most of my work comes intuitively to me through music, dreams and organic play working with different materials and techniques. When I create, I work with the intention to express my own mental health journey, and to help others with any struggles they may face internally so they feel seen and heard. As someone who is neurodivergent and struggles with fibromyalgia, my health and wellbeing both influences my work, and my creative process and perspective.
By utilising found materials and having a mixed media approach to creation, my work is a testament to trial and error, the passage of time and happenstance. The qualities of the Japanese aesthetic Wabi-Sabi influence my work greatly. Tactile expressions of degradation, weathering, and asymmetry are evident within my artwork. I embrace accidental marks and irregularities, enhancing the beauty in the imperfect and incomplete – to cherish each moment and enjoy the journey.
